Surviving a Break-up
Some relationships work, some doesn’t. It is a fact of life. Don’t ever think you are the only person this ugly thing has happened to. It could be that even at the start of the relationship, breaking up is already an impending doom or maybe somewhere along the way things just didn’t feel right anymore. Either way it is sure to leave a sting. The good news is you will get over it but the question is how. In order to get through the worst, bear three things in mind:
1. You have to good care of yourself.
2. You have the right to wallow in tears and mourn.
3. Life goes on, move forward with it.
The toughest time would be the few days after the breaking up. Allow yourself to cry until there are no more tears coming. Call the band-aid brigade; invite them over to console you. If you feel like being alone, do so. Spend those time eating junk foods, lying on your pajama all day, and have a movie marathon. Watch all the sentimental romantic flicks you want or those unemotional action movies. Be sure to throw in some comedy movies though. You’ll find yourself laughing even at those silliest scenes. The laughter would be good for you.
Whatever you do, make sure it has nothing to do with your ex. Screen your calls by turning on your answering machine or caller id. Do not communicate with your ex yet. Allow some time for your ego integrity to be established again. This would help you find your way to acceptance. Think of the relationship as over and don’t indulge in hopes of making amends. Well, this might be an impossible feat but you have to do it not just try. It is really necessary.
After a few days of wallowing, get up and get a life for yourself. Return to your normal routine. Take extra minutes in grooming yourself. Being confident about how you look will help you feel good inside. Plan activities with your friends especially for those days you normally spend with your ex. This will provide a distraction for you as well as an excellent way of releasing the negative energy. It may take some time but it would help you to gradually get over the pain and before you know it you’re good as new. You’re already having fun without even trying.

Through all the pain you have right now, I know that you can survive. You can still find a person who really deserves your love.
